quickbooks 2006 pro

when i open qbooks i get an error that says this version of quickbooks
requires Internet explorer 6.0 or later. open IE and check the version it
says i have version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519IC i thionk that
this version is later than 6.0 right? still cannot open quick books call
intuit and they say the problenm is in IE and it is corrupted and needs to be
fixed by microsoft call microsoft and they say the problem is in the machine
(emachine) call emachine and they run through fixing the file and try to
open QB and still get the same error. help
