either the first page you get into is a passport page or passport
authentication is acting goofy. There are often problems with passport if
you set it to remember the password and that could be the problem. Either
delete the cookies or try opera or Netscape.

I've tried a few other things and now I'm really confused.
Apparently I can get into hotmail ... at least to a point. For
example, I
can go to account services to see my profile, change my password, etc.
However, I can't seem to check my mailbox. For example, when I click
on
the
MY MSN from the MSNdotcom main page, I can see that I have hotmail
waiting
because I can see the message headers on the MY MSN page. But if I try
to
open a message, I get directed back to the hotmail signin screen ...
where
I
can't get past the security screen / login screen cycle.

There isn;t a newsgroup for outlook live and the password should never
expire - even if you didn't log into the account in more than 30 days
as
paid accounts are good until expiry. Are you sure you are using the
correct
password (and don't have caps lock on)?
Did you try logging in via
www.hotmail.com?
