Question about backgrounds

There is the background for the desktop, which is set by right-clicking the
desktop, selecting properties, and setting a wallpaper for the desktop. What
determines the background/wallpaper that is there behind the login dialog box
(like for example if one selects screen saver password-protected. Then, in
that case, I have a background, and I don't know where it came from. More
accurately, I know where it came from (I remember selecting the image), but I
don't know how I set it or how I can change it.

Two systems. Desktop and active desktop. Desktop is for BMP and GIFs.
If you want to see a JPG, the actve desktop turns on.

Try right clicking the background and selecting properties. Go to the
page marked WEB and uncheck the the box "Show web content"
