George,
Pls see:
How to expand Windows XP files from the installation disk:

The file is in the Windows XP CD-ROM (in the i386 folder), or in
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder, in a compressed form (denoted by an
underscore in the file extension).

Ramesh,
How do you restore this file from the disk? I went to the Windows XP website
and
saw the directions, but they are still too hard to understand. For instance,
how do you know the location of the file you are going to restore (
query.dll
) ? Is it
C:\Windows\system32\query.dll ??? Ok then, where on the disk is the file
to replace it? Is it D:\...same path ???
I really want to know how to do this, because what is happening is that my
Diskeeper 10 is getting caught up on this file everytime it defrags. Had a
couple of blue screens...It can not move the file because it can't find it
all.
TIA,
George Mardre
