Qualifying CD

Hi

I am running Win98SE at the moment, and I wish to updrade
to XP.

Can I but the upgrade version of XP, and use the OEM Win98
as a qualifying CD?

Thanks in advance.

if you do a straight "upgrade" (i.e. NOT a clean install) then you won't
need the CD anyway as W98 will be already on your HDD as a qualifying OS.

If the W98 CD is a "real" Windows CD and not a restore disk,
yes.

Greetings --

It depends upon the type of CD your OEM provided. The WinXP
Upgrade CD checks to see if a qualifying OS is installed, and, if it
finds none, it asks you to insert the installation media (CD) of that
OS. Unfortunately, an OEM "Recovery/Restore" CD will not work for
this purpose; you must have a true installation CD, complete with the
"\Win98" folder and *.cab files
