Q: temporarily disable mcafee virusscan enterprise 8 ? ?

Is there a way to temporarily disable McAfee's Autoscan feature?

I am trying to install a freeware app (which is adware) and McAffee is
blocking installation.

Also, it slows my system to a crawl whenever I try file searching a
folder.

Clicking on the {V} logo in the system tray only gives me statistics
or About, there is no option to turn it off or change settings.

I went into Administration > Services and temporarily stopped McAfee
Alert Manager and McAfee Framework Service but that doesn't seem to
work.

Any help appreciated!

hold control and shift while right clicking on the tray icon, then under
'scan now' there should appear a 'disable' item... unless your IT department
knows how to disable it.

Hi,

In its Readme.txt, it says there are 3rd party application that can't be
installed if VirusScan Enterprise Buffer Overflow feature is enabled. Try
disabling it prior installing the application you want to try.

Not sure if this applies to your current version.
