Q: How do I join WFW 3.11 to W2K AD domain?

R

Russell Graville

I have a test lab environment in which I need to add many different
OS's to a w2k active directory domain. I have been sucessful with
95c, 95b, 95a, and 95 retail. I cannot find any information on how to
access the domain with Windows for Workgroups 3.11.

Does anyone have information, or a link to information, on how to
login to a Win2K AD Domain with a Windows 3.11 client? Any MS
Qarticles?

Thanks

Russ

Set the Workgroup name the same as the domain name and use a protocol that
both can talk with. Everything below NT4 does not use a machine account and
does not need to join the domain.

Richard is correct...and in fact taking it a step further: If you DO create
a machine
account it will LOCK OUT any older machine with that name from participating
in
that domain.

You not only should not, but you also MUST not, "create an account" for a
non-NT
class machine.
