W2k AD & Client OS

Andy

Hi.. Thanks in advance for your help..

Our env have DOS/WfW 3.11-3.12/95/98/NT/2000 client OS -
due to legacy apps.

If we install W2k AD, will all the above client still
able to connect to the network?? I don't care about if
the older client (dos/wfw/95/98/nt) does not take full
advantage of AD - as long as they can connect to the
network and have access to network servers (nt4/2000) as
it is now in our NT 4 domain.

I understand that if our NT domain was called ABCD, after
AD it would be ABCD.COM (once in native mode) - will this
be a problem for DOS/WFW/95/98/NT clients, will they
still be able to log in to the "ABCD" domain or can they
login to ABCD.COM domain as well??

Thank again VERY MUCH for your time and help..

You can use DOS and WFW to authenticate to AD. If you are planning to use Ad
in WS2k3 then you need to turn off SMB signing. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=811497 for more details. Domain mode (mixed
or native) has nothing to do with this.
You downlevel clients will still use NetBios name for locating and talking
to domain controllers.
