putting xp on my laptop

I recently had my laptop replaced from best buy, and unfortunatly it came
with Vista Home Premium. I want to put XP back on this, I have a legit copy
of it, but I was told that I would probably not have driver support for it.
Is there a way I can find this out before I format and try it just to have it
not work?
By the way, my laptop is an HP DV9408NR. Should I just contact HP on this
matter? Any help is greatly appreciated as I cannot stand Vista.

HP.com should be your first stop. If they don't list drivers for your
model, then check to see if it list the motherboard's mfg and model, go to
the mfg web site and try to find drivers for the motherboard or a similar
motherboard. I have found drivers for my system this way, but I haven't
actually tried installing WXP this way.

Well, I did try tonight on a different hard drive, just so I wouldn't waste
my time backing everything up and reinstalling...
I did get most of the stuff to work, I could not get audio my dual core
drivers, I think it was only working on one core???... I don't know... I
tried both HPs website, and nvidias website. I will try on monday to call HP
and maybe if I get lucky, I will get someone who speaks english that might be
able to help me through the whole process of finding all the drivers I need.
There were a few other things I could not get drivers for, but can't remember
at the moment since I got the vista drive back in. Thank you for the replies,
and I will post new information when I get it, maybe it will help another
poor sole who is stuck running Vista.
