hi, okay, so every time i put in a new cd my computer automatically restarts,
then i log on and i can play the disk...so, i already tried going to wmp
tools-options-devices-properties and seeing if the "use error correction
tab" was checked and they're not. ALSO, when i insert a blank cd (like if i
want to burn some of my songs), the computer restarts yes, but then i log on
to my desktop, then my computer restarts again, and so on and so forth. may
someone please help me??

This happened to me and the Driver Verifier was the culprit. If you have
"verified" your drivers go back and choose "rollback".

This worked for me.

If your CD-ROM drive spins CD's wery fast, it may draw high current so
your power supply can't supply other electronic and computer "restarts".
Actualy you have same effect as pushing reset button. Try to change
power supply!
