Publishing Site and Forms

R

Richard

HI:
I have been simply going to the "file" menu, publish
site. It is set to publish via FTP. I insert the
password, and away it goes.

This morning I tried again, setting it to "Frontpage or
Sharepoint Services". Message that came up said "Unable
to open. Server error. FP requires that the "allow
override" option be set to something other than "none",
(typically set in access.conf). "All" is the preferred
Allow Override option for the document root.

If it helps, the site login is lockednl. The password
is password .

With regard to these things pointing back to my own
computer - how does this/why does this happen? I just
built the form and the hit counter and put them in the
respective pages - didn't tell the program to change
anything.

When I do find these incorrect pointers, how do I go about
fixing them?

Thank you gentlemen, for your patience, and your help.

I did as asked. New page has been published, but using
ftp, as the normal method still does not work.

Richard.
To edit pages correctly, you must:
1 Open FrontPage.
2. Click File > Open web ..and FrontPage
should default to the last web you had open on your machine.
If not browse to the correct folder.
3. Then open the page with the hit counter.
Remove it, save the page. Re-install it, save the page.
Close the page.
4. Click the folder icon, open the page containing the form.
Right click the form, select From properties. Click Apply
which should update the form. Save the page.
5. Have the extensions repaired one more time.
6. Select File > Publish Web. When the password panel opens
click cancel. Then change the location to:
http://yourdomain.com and click OK. A different looking password panel
will open. Enter the user and pass and click publish.

Hi again:

I tried to do as requested but could not: I got an error
message when I tried to publish in the normal manner:

"Unable to open. Server error. FP requires that
the "allow override" option be set to something other
than "none",(typically set in access.conf). "All" is the
preferred Allow Override option for the document root."

I am sorry, my reply was a little trite. I do appreciate
your help. Thank you.

Thats great advice - only problem is that the conventional
method won't work.
-----Original Message-----
Do not use FTP
Each time you do, it corrupts the FP SE and breaks all
the FP runtime components like your counter

Can Happen when working on pages outside of a FP web, using images not in the FP web, or not saving all pages before publishing
