Publisher to Frontpage

First of all, I am fairly new to designing a site. I've been using Publisher
2003 and have several pages made and I can publish to the web to save on my
hard drive. I can open the index html in Explorer and everything works like
it should.

I just got Frontpage 2003 today thru a home use program at work. Sweet
deal, $21.95 that I couldn't pass up. My problem is this.

I "open site" for the index. The main page shows up fine, but none of the
other pages do. In the preview mode when I click on a hyperlink nothing
happens.

Thanks in advance.

To be perfectly honest, Publisher and FrontPage are totally incompatible.
You will be much better off to start a new web / rebuild your web with
FrontPage.

Don't waste your time trying to convert from Pub to FP, just redo the site
in FP.
That is a sweet deal too !

Rob & Steve,

Thanks for the prompt responses. I kinda had an ideal that I was going to
have to start over. At least I don't have a whole lot of time invested with
Publisher. As I said, I'm just starting out in this so I'm sure to have more
questions.

Thanks again,
Dennis

Let me just add an opinion here.

If you are *...just starting out..." then step away from the keyboard, get a
good (heck, even a bad) book on HTML and spend a few weeks (that's right,
weeks) studying it and using the examples. No matter what you think, FP
will not replace the gaping maw of NO HTML KNOWLEDGE. The more you know
about HTML (and then later CSS), the easier FP will be. If you know nothing
about HTML, then FP will seem attractively simple, as it does much for you
that doesn't require this knowledge, but you will quickly find yourself in
holes that you cannot get out of using only FP in "no-HTML" mode.

That's just my opinion, of course.

Thanks Murray. Any books that you'd recomend? I've borrowed a copy of "Step
by Step MS Frontpage 2003" by Microsoft Press. My ultimate goal is creating
a photography site. I plan on having 4-5 different galleries of thumbnails
with links to a more hi-res shot. I know I've got my work cut out for me to
get past the simple gallery created in Publisher & Photoshop.

Thanks,
Dennis

As I said, I'd focus on pure HTML and CSS. Forget you even have FrontPage
until you at least have an overview of HTML....
