Text not publishing

Vicki B

We just updated our website. When I edit the pages, everything shows it is
fine in FrontPage '03, but when I publish the site none of the text is
publishing. The graphics are showing, though. I've tried setting up tables,
checked text color, cut and pasted text, typed it in, etc... Any ideas?

Crystal balls are not very dependable these days, so post a public URL where
people can see it.

My apologies... This is the first time I've used a discussion group. I'm
assuming what you're asking for is www.majestichillsranch.com. Everything
looks good in the design pane, but I am getting a runtime error message in
the preview pane.

This tag
<![if pub11]>
restricts viewing to those IE users who have Publisher version 11 installed.
Since I have Publisher 12, I cannot see the text.

Firefox users are not affected by the restriction, and the whole page shows.

I've got Pub 11 & 12, and the results in IE8 are a mixed bag; some pages I
can see others I can't.

I am using IE, so I just looked at it in Firefox and I see all the text. Can
this line of code just be removed? How do I make this readable in IE?
Thank you!!!

Delete that line of code - the text will appear in IE as well as other
browsers.

Then start cleaning up the code - such as removing stupid CSS like
bottom-margin: .001pt
This is stupid because 1pt is 1/72 inches. .001pt needs a micrometer to
measure it - and a screen displays in pixels, not pts., the smallest
measurement available on a screen is approximately 1pt (approximately
because inches and pts have no real meaning on a screen, but IE will
interpret 10pt text as 13px., whereas FireFox will interpret 10pt text as
14px - slightly larger).

Good Website you have at http://www.majestichillsranch.com/
But IMG_3875.JPG is not Not Available all I see need work on to day keep
up the good work
on a (1 to !0) your website as is I would give it a 7 good job Vicki
============
Viewing the site with the latest version of Firefox, on your side
navigation, any menu item that has more than one line is not legible as the
two lines display on top of each other. Hmm, not multilines just two buttons
on top of each other.

You might also want to resize your images using an image editor rather than
changing the size by changing the dimensions in your code. The browser still
loads the full size image before it resizes the image.

You also might want to consider moving from a frame based site to one using
a css layout.

See http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/frames/framed-website.html

and http://www.htmlbasictutor.ca/search-engine-html-frames.htm

If you are using FP to create you site, you can try something like this
layout
http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/css-layouts/peaks-of-otter/index.html
which is a fixed without layout OR one of these
http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/css-layouts/index.htm which is a
fluid width layout.
