Publish FrontPage2000 using FrontPage 2002

John

I need to upgrade a website from FrontPage 2000 to
FrontPage 2002. I'm trying to publish the FrontPage 2000
site from webserver(http://...) to local disk using
Publish command in FrontPage 2002. However when I try to
open the FrontPage 2000 site using FrontPage 2002, I get
the error msg "The web server at ... does not appear to
have the FrontPage server extensions installed." (I'm
certain the 2000 extensions are loaded on the server)
However I can import the site fine using FrontPage 2002,
although that isn't what I need to do. Any insight is
appreciated.

Thanks,
John

John,
The message is referring to your computer's local disk.
The Server extensions will not normally be there. Publish
the entire FP 2000 site anyway.

Charles,

Thanks for the reply. However the Publish menu item is not
enabled since I am unable to open the source web. I get
the error msg when I try to 'Open Web'.

John

Open the site directly in FP2002 using File Menu | Open Web, then use File
Menu | Publish Web and enter a path to folder on your HD as, c:\mywebname

Thomas,

I cannot open the website successfully using File | Open
Web. I get the following error msg after slecting 'Open
Web' and entering the url of the web I want to open.

"The web server at ... does not appear to have the
FrontPage server extensions installed."

However I think the FP 2000 extensions are installed (e.g.
the hit counter on the website works) Might they be
corrupted and need to be reinstalled. Any other ideas as
to why I cannot open the website in FrontPage 2002?

Thanks,
John
