.pst file hangs Outlook.

Hello,

I have two computers - both with Outlook 2000.

This morning I tried to access Outlook - there were about 100 new
messages. Trying to access the firt one hung Outlook. I killed the
task - started over - same problem - for any new email.

The old emails in the inbox (read) are accessible).

I copied over the .pst file to another computer - same problem. The
new emails hung Outlook, the read ones were accessible.

I tried scanpst.exe - no problems found. The .pst file is about 1.8
gigs.

I tried to run a virus scan on it - it would not allow it (Avast).

Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks,

Tmuld.

If it exceeds 2MB then the PST file is to big and well start failing. There
isn't much you can do other then try cleaning out your Outlook of all
attached files etc.. and re save the PST file.

PSTs of this size can lead to problems. Move messages out of this PST to
another PST while you still can and then compact this PST.

I tried a demo product called 'Search and Recover 2'

This allowed me to access the file with Outlook. From there I started
moving files to new .pst files - breaking it up.

Hopefully this won't happen in the future!

Thanks!

Tmuld.
