Proxy Settings in Container Policies Not Being Pushed to Clients

K

Kyle Stedman

Hi,

All of a sudden, clients are not received the Proxy
Settings being pushed at them by our polices (User
Configuration -- Windows Settings -- Internet Explorer
Maintenance -- Connection -- Proxy Settings).

Why is this happening? No big changes on our end (except
for recent IE6 roll-up). And this setting was being
pushed before.

Thanks,
Kyle

Kyle,

So nothing has changed? Are there any DNS problems? Have you run GPOTOOL
or GPRESULT?

Furthermore, is the DC that holds the FSMO Role of PDC Emulator available?
This is very important with GPOs. You can determine that by installing the
Support Tools on all of your WIN2000 Servers. The Support Tools are found
in two places: on the WIN2000 Server CD in the Support | Tools folder and on
the WIN2000 Service Pack CD in the Support | Tools folder.

Once installed, run 'netdom query fsmo' from the command prompt for a quick
way to verify that it is available. I would also use ReplMon to make sure
that it is available and that you can bind to it.

Furthermore, I would run 'netdiag /v > c:\dc01dcdaig.log' and 'netdiag /v >
c:\dc01netdiag.log' from a command prompt. This runs the two different
utilities 'dcdiag' and 'netdiag' in verbose mode and redirects the result
from each diagnostics to a .log file located on the c:\ drive. You can call
it whatever you like. How do these look?

HTH,

Cary
