Default Domain Policy - Proxy Settings

K

Kam

Thanks in advance to anyone who could help me get out of
this mess.

Our AD structure does not have any OUs, and so servers and
clients are all treated the same pretty much. With the
only exception of the servers bypassing the proxy server,
so that they could do anything.

About two weeks ago I decided to make things a bit easier
for ourselves during the rollout of desktops and I setup
the proxy settings under the Default Domain Policy. The
exact location is as follows:
User Configuration->Windows Settings->Internet Explorer
Maintenance->Connection
And when you click on Connection, you'll see "Proxy
Settings" on the right hand pane which I modified to fit
our needs.

Of course the servers also picked up these settings, which
I thought would not be a problem. Unfortunately that has
not been the case. It's been about a week or so that our
servers can no longer surf the net without the proxy
settings. I have also removed that domain policy for
proxy settings and the servers are still experiencing
problems. I would appreciate anyone who could help me in
anyway so solve this issue.

Thanks,

Kam

This is a user configuration setting not a computer setting. If you don't
want this to apply to the servers you have a few choices, the easiest of
which is:

-- Deny the accounts that frequent the servers Apply Policy permission on
the GPO DACL.
