I am networking 3 xp pro systmes with 1 w2k system.
They are networked thru a Linksys router. 1 xp desktop
machine uses wireless usb, the other 3 are cat5 wired.

1. Which protocols are absolutely needed to allow these
systems to communicate?

2. One of the xp's (dell laptop) is extremely slow in
searching out the other systems. Any clues? Is there
maybe some type of cache file that needs to be cleared?

Thank in advance for your help!

1. Any common protocol. If you want the Internet, it should be TCP/IP.

2. Try to play with link speed (Netvork Adapter Properties/Advanced). I've
seen Dell NICs which autosensed the link as 100Mbps but crawled and just
flew being locked on 10Mbps.
