progs freezing

hi can anyone help,
i've got a problem with progs freezing then not
responding. also i can't download tools to help, although
i have scanned for viruses and none have been found
(including sasser) problem started 1 week ago, and i do
have mcafee firewall.

Hi, Hugh.

There can be many causes for hangs, both software and hardware. The most
common, probably, is from heat buildup. If you tell us more about your
symptoms, we'll have a better chance to help you.

Which programs? At what point do they freeze? What happens if you wait for
a minute? Five minutes?

What happened 1 week ago? Did you get new hardware? New software? Move
the computer to a different location? Put some new piece of
computer/radio/stereo equipment nearby? Is this a new computer or several
years old?

Obviously, I'm grasping at straws because you just haven't given us anything
to go on. :>( Remember, you can see your computer; we can't. All we know
is what you tell us, which isn't much so far.
