Programs wont stay open

I just upgraded win 200 to xp pro, programs worked fine after that, till
after i installed sp2, then programs like IE, MSN Messenger, AIM, Counter
Strike, will open then a few seconds later it will close. I have turned off
the fire wall, and unblocked them. I tryed scaning with stinger in safe
mode. I need help and soon.

To repair all system files, go to Start/Run, and type: SFC /SCANNOW

I am having the same problem... I have XP I must have done the sp2 upgrade
and now AIM kills 60 seconds after I use it. I tried doing what you
suggested below and it did not fix my problem... what else can i try?

More information about my situation.....

Last time I used my computer AIM worked just fine... suddenly I restart my
computer and now it is screwed up. I start AIM, everything works just fine,
then approximately 60 seconds after it has started it kills... no error from
AIM, no nothing. It is like the program dissappears... that tells me it is a
WINDOWS PROBLEM and not a AIM problem. And no one else I know is having a
problem with their network and I am able to use the program on other
computers. I tried to do system restore to correct the problem, didn't help.
And I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling.... I tried messing
with firewalls.... I have tried everything. I don't know what to do next, I
am frustrated.

Please help.

EVEN MORE USEFUL INFORMATION!

Even if i don't sign on to the AIM network, windows will still kill the
program. So it doesn't have anything to do with the internet... etc.

PLEASE HELP!
