All the programs I run work fine for my administrator
logon but for new users Acrobat 6.0 and MS Office programs
open with strange windows and without all their parts. In
other words they don't work. The same thing occurs with IE
5.0 sometimes. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Please be specific - "strange windows and without all their
parts" may be perfectly clear to you but it means nothing
to us.

I'll try. In Word, the buttons and toolbars don't appear
only a grey screen with a shutdown x in the upper right
hand corner. In acrobat 6.0, the document is displayed but
in a small window on the right side and the left is all
grey with no objects or reaction to right click.

I have:
checked the ctl-alt-del to see what is running and it is
essentially the same as the administrator.

This is a result of a problem with a cd rom drive that was
not showing up in my directory. I subsequently repaired
windows using the CD and now this problem. I recently
connected another computer to this one using a crossover
cable and had no problems. Thanks again.

What happens when you temporarily elevate one of the
problem users to admin status?

Pegasus,
I tried your suggestion and all the problems associated
with the user disappeared. Nice logical deduction. I tried
all users that are not administrators and they all have
the same problems. Both administrator accounts work fine.
Now what? I'm afraid I don't know anything about profiles.
Thanks again.

You have most likely a permissions problem. Make sure
that your various folders are fully accessible by all users.
Check Windows 2000 Help (Start / Help) if unsure how to
set NTFS permissions.

That was it! The program folder was not authorized to be
shared. It all works. Thanks again.
