I've searched high and low and haven't been able to find
an answer to my problem. The file in question are
image files and are not corrupted. For some unknown
reason whenever I try to access the files from within the
program, where the standard OPEN window comes up, the
program crashes. IE has done this when I was uploading
images to my website, Adobe Photoshop LE does it, the
Hewlett Packard image editor crashes, and even MSPaint.
The trouble started happening shortly after the latest
Windows XP update, and with the variety of programs
crashing I'm inclined to think that the problem lies with
Windows.
Usually when accessing the files windows gives me a
preview, and whenever the program crashes random images
only have the default Quicktime GIF and JPEG
placeholders. File size doesn't seem to be a factor
because a 10 meg image can load up fine and a skimpy
300Kb image will have the place holder [and vice versa]
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
