When I hit Ctl, Alt, Del. I have 14 programs running that I dont use all the
time and my CPU usage is at 90% making my computer very very slow. How to I
change them to only open when needed?

Click start followed by run, in the run box type msconfig and then click the
startup tab to see what programs are starting with the computer, untick the
ones that are not necessary, thats one way.

You could also post a list of the programs so that we can see what programs
they are and tell you whether they are needed or not and how to get rid of
them or disable them.

First of all, you need to determine which programs are actually using the
CPU. Then, you determine what purpose the ones, which are actually doing
work, serve. Finally, you determine why each one of these programs need the
use of the CPU.

Perhaps you should investigate whether your computer is infested with
malware. The system that I am using right now shows about 57 active
processes, but only a very few ever do much work.

Answered in another newsgroup. Please do not send the same message
separately to more than one newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so just
fragments the thread, so someone who answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to
see answers from others in another newsgroup. And for those who read all the
newsgroups the message is multiposted to, they see the message multiple
times instead of once (they would see it only once if you correctly
crossposted instead).

If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup, please do so
by crossposting (but only to a *few* related newsgroups).

Please see "What is the accepted way to share a message across multiple
newsgroups?" at http://smjg.port5.com/faqs/usenet/xpost.html
