program insists on saving to hard drive before printing

New computers with XP in a library setting - therefore
several accounts on a networked system. Mapped to
existing HP printer on network, but each time try to
print from any program - the program defaults to save
file. We sure don't want people saving their files and
searches to the hard drive. Any ideas why this is
happening?
