program hijacking modem

Hi,
I have loaded a media program which keeps accessing the
net. It would bring up the modem connection box whenever I
start the computer. How do stop the porgram from
hijacking my modem connection. I have Zone alarm and
Sygate. they both seems not to do anything. meantime,It
slows down the computer significantly.

Have you examined the program's preferences, options and properties to see
if there is a choice to "enable on startup" or similar language? That
would be a first step.

If no joy, click START|RUN and type "msconfig" (no quotes) <enter>
Click the Start Up tab and see if the program is shown there. If so,
UNcheck the box to the left of its entry, and reboot. When a message
comes up after XP loads, checkmark its box to "not show this message again".
