I'm trying to open an emil support email but I can't get past the "Procuct ID"
question and my machine is stuck in a boot loop.
Any Ideas on how to get past the product ID question?

What Product ID question?

The Product ID in Windows XP is a 20 character (mostly numeric) value
that is derived from the 25 character alphanumeric Product Key used to
install Windows XP. To see the Product ID for an installed copy of
Windows open Control Panel - System - General. The Product ID is
shown as the last item in the "Licensed to:" section of the Window.

Are you being asked to re-enter the Windows Product Key when you start
up Windows?

I'm trying to open a Support case here on the Microsoft web page.
It asks for a product then product ID. The system will not let be pass to
the next menu without a valid product id.

If your machine is stuck in a reboot loop then your best option is to
do a Repair Install as per the instructions at

Good luck

Ron, this is exactly how I got into this problem.
I had to do a new install and as soon as I upgrade to SP-2 over the internet
I'm in the boot loop. So I guess for the 5 time I could reinstal, get the
product ID before I accept the Update patch process. ALL I want to do is
submitt an email help request!

Try ordering the complete SP2 on a CD. It usually arrives in a few
days.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

Service Pack 2 install preparation:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm

The product I.D. should not be changed when SP2 is installed so you
could make a note of the value before you start the SP2 install, just
in case things go blooey again.

Good luck

You may get the Product ID from the registry.
(If you can get it to boot to safe mode at least)
HKLM, Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version
