Product Activation required but says already activated

Hi,
I hope that someone can help with this. I'm stuck...

I have a PC that says that my copy of Windows XP home
must be activated before you can log in. That is fine,
but when I click "yes" to activate windows now, the
Windows Product Activation window says that "Windows is
already activated. Click OK to exit." then it logs me off
and I am not able to access the PC.

How do I access the PC to register it again?

I thank you for your help in advance!

Thanks,
Doug

Try repairing the activation DLL file registrations.

Boot the computer in Safe Mode and then use Start- Run and enter the
following text in the dialog box:
regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

Then do it again with the following text:
regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

To start Windows XP in Safe Mode turn the computer on and start
tapping the F8 key as soon as the first information of any kind shows
on the screen. Keep tapping until the Windows XP Startup Menu appears
and choose Safe Mode from the menu.

Good luck
