I am using XP Home with all upgrades installed thru Sept
2003. After activation and registration over the Net, the
system recognized that it had been registered, but
continued to ask for activation with countdown. When we
tried to re-register and reactivate, we received the
message that our computer was already activated. The
system worked OK, so we let it go. Now past the 30 days:
\
Upon startup the Welcome Window appears and states "This
copy of windows must be activated. Do you want to activate
it now?" Clicking OK, windows states it was already been
activated. Clicking OK brings up the Logon Window.
Clicking logon Icon, system responce states "Windows must
be activated before you can logon. "Do you want to
activate?" I answer "yes". The blue Windows product
activation window with the picture of keys is displays and
says that "windows is already activated". I click OK and
The Welcome Logon Window appears. Two choices. Shutdown or
log on. Clicking the log on icon causes a popup window to
appear stating that this copy of windows must be
activated,

The cycle atarts all over again. I seem to be stuck in a
loop. Help!

It seems your windows xp was already activated on another
computer that is why you receive the message "computer
was already activated" One copy of windows xp can only be
used on one computer.

Did you open the Windows XP Home box your self or was it
already opened when you received it?

If the box was already opened you should contact the
vendor from whom you purchased it. Otherwise Contact
Microsoft Prodcut Activation via phone to get more
details.

Everything was fine, until I had to reformat and reinstall
windows due to a virus. I also added additional hardware.
Doesn't Windows Activation allow for this? I am using a
legally purchased XP Home Edition disk.
