Processor concerns

I recently purchased a presario 1.6ghz used. However I
think that the processor may have been swapped out. When
I installed my cable modem, there was a screen that
checked requirements. It said that the processor was
only 177mghz and 111 memory instead of 128. How can I
find out for sure what the specs are, and why would XP
work with a 177mghz processor?
