Problems with XP remembering settings.

Sorry, I know this isn't a 2000 question, but I can't find an XP newgroup.

I have 2 Dell Presicion 380's, one running 2003 server, no problems with
this machine at all. The other is runniong XP, all the updates ans service
packs are installed.

From the day of installation I've had problems with it remembering settings.
If I shut it down it forgets the last screen resolution set, so I have to
re-set this every power up. Some applications also forget their last window
and form positions and locations.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Cheers.

The graphics driver is what was supplied with the machine, it was the first
thought I had, but it wouldn't explain applications not remebering settings.

The other really funny thing is that sometimes, the screen resolution is
remembered after a shut down, whcih made me think the card maybe faulty, but
a Full Dell system check, on soak test overnight, showed no problems at all!

Confused!

More than likely the graphics adapter driver is incorrect.

You'll want to address problems one at a time. One may have nothing to do
with the other. The screen resolution item is a hardware and or driver
related issue.
