I'd be so grateful if someone could help me with this. its driving me mad.
Everytime i use word, outlook or any program where i'm entering text the
entry keeps jumping to the rows above midway through, and i have to maually
sort it out.
I cant think where to go for help as it effects all my programs.
I'm using vista with office 2007 but it did this before i upgraded.

I, too, am having similar issues. Logging on or entering text on HP
Pavillion laptop, Vista business pre- installed,MS wireless mouse (fresh
battery), cursor will move totally out of the text area, or jump up or down
into another line. Just happened again(4 x's) on this post. Don't know what's
up. Any body got a clue how to stop/fix this?
Thanks

For both of you, a couple of things to try:

1. Claire - you didn't give any information about your hardware - the
computer or the mouse. In any case, install the latest drivers from the
mouse mftr. or the touchpad drivers from the laptop mftr. if you have a
laptop.

2. Claire - if you have a wireless mouse, change the batteries.

3. Claire and Chuck - Make sure your mouse's optical sensor is clean;
bits of smutch can cause the problems you are experiencing.

4. Claire and Chuck - Check the mousing surface - optical mice don't
like too-shiny surfaces and/or patterned surfaces. A dark single-colored
mousepad helps with that.

5. Chuck - get the latest drivers for your mouse, making sure they are
for Vista.

6. Claire - if you have a laptop, turn down the mouse/touchpad
sensitivity from the Control Panel applet.
