problems with system restore

Can anyone help?

I was having some problems with my PC and decided to do a
system restore. After the restore, I lost my Internet
connection and cannot get it back. I am running IE6 and
using a router to connect two pcs. The other PC (the one I
am sending this message from) works fine so I know there
isn't aproblem with my router. I have checked all
connections, cables, plugs, etc. and everything there is
okay. It appears my PC is not reading the IP address of my
router. I tried undoing the system restore, but that did
not help. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I would
appreciate any help possible! ould this be a problem with
Windows XP? Thanks.

You may try WinsockFix. It worked for me after I ran into some
problems trying to interconnect Win95/WinXP computers. Here is a

Hmmm
Few things to try here.
Sounds like the network connection is first place to start.

In Control Panel
Check in Device Manager if the network card is listed and not disabled.
Network dial up connections.
Browse to the TCP/IP section and check that the IP addressing is correct.
You might have DHCP running, in any event XP is smart enough to figure that
out, if not add the the Router's IP address in the DNS Primary.
Also possible that the LAN connection is disabled (enable it)
Ping the router
Ping the other PC

From what i have read here about system restore, it doesn't, so i'd leave
that well alone for now, and work through some basic settings and you
should be ok.
