Problems with Savings Documents

Tonight a problem has just started with Word 2007 on my PC. I typed up a
bunch of text, went to save it as usual and the "Initializing Places" dialog
box popped up. The dialog box disappeared, then Word minimised without
giving me any Save options. That all that happens when I try to save. So
basically I have no way of saving a document. Has anyone seen this behaviour
before?

I'm running Win XP SP3 with Office 2007

Same here.
It started happening after a Windows Live Messenger update.
It also screwed up my EndNote installation as well.
