Opening "Save As" Dialog Box Corrupts Headers/Footers

Why do my headers/footers change/get erased when I open Save As diaolog box
in Microsoft Word 2007 on Windows computer?

Here's what I am doing:
1. I open a word 2007 document and then I do a Save As to save the file
under a different name.
2. I can see my document in the background while the dialog box is open and
I noticed that the header text I had got replaced with a single word and my
footer page count vanished.
3. If I complete the Save As, the new document has the modified
header/footer text

This does not make sense...what am I doing wrong??

What fields do the header and footer contain? Press Alt+F9 to examine the
field codes.

The Header is simply typed text: Document Name and a text-entered date
The Footer is Page X of Y

So you are not using Filename or Date fields? You might want to check to see
if there is a FileSaveAs macro that might be hijacking the process and
removing the header/footer.

Thanks for the response.

I do not see any Tools/macros associated with this file...when I first saved
it I marked the "keep compatibility with Word 2003" option. Later when I saw
the header disappear I thought it may be related to this issue so I removed
that option and saved it as a 2007 Word document.

If you'd like to send me the file (or a small representative sample that
exhibits the described behavior) as an email attachment, I'll take a look.
