Problems with PowerPoint?

I cannot open an Email attachment with the extension .pps.:

"The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action.
Create an association in the Folder Option Control Panel".

I do not have the slightest idea what is the next step to take.

Please help me. Thank you.

Save the file from your email. Then open the Viewer program and from within it
open the presentation (File > Open and browse to the file on your hard disk).

Hello,

You might be experiencing a known problem with PowerPoint Viewer 2003 on
Windows XP SP-2 (Service Pack 2).

Testing has come up with the following workaround.

1) Install PowerPoint Viewer 97 to the same folder as PowerPoint Viewer
2003.
2) Rename the respective executables for the two viewers as follows:
2a) Rename PowerPoint Viewer 97 executable to something other than
"pptview.exe" or "ppview32.exe"
2b) Rename PowerPoint Viewer 2003 executable "ppview32.exe"

This will "trick" Outlook Express into using PowerPoint Viewer 2003
(instead of PowerPoint Viewer 97) to open attachments.

You can get PowerPoint Viewer 97 from:

John can answer this more definitively, but I'm not sure that he monitors
this group all the time. I don't think it really matters what you rename
the file. Since it is an executable, it makes sense to end with .exe, but
the renaming is just a trick to get the file out of the way so the new
ppview32.exe (from step 2b) will automatically run in place of the old
one.

a tiny program that will fix things for you permanently and allows you to use
