Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Show

I receive email attachments and I cannot open them. It is a pps. file
(Microsoft PowerPoint Slide show. I downloaded Microsoft Office PowerPoint
Viewer 2007, but It still won't let me open it. I get the responce--that I
don't have a program associated to perform this action. Can someone please
tell me what I'm doing wrong or what do I need to do. Thanks so much..

Did you install the Viewer or just download it? Can you open the Viewer
Application? If so, try saving the .pps file to your hard drive, opening
the Viewer, and opening the file from within the Viewer.

It shows that I installed the Microsoft Office PowerPoint viewer but not the
PowerPoint slide show. How and where do I find the PowerPoint Slide show, so
I can install that one?
Sorry, but I don't know very much about computers, let alone installing
stuff. And after I did install that, how do I save it to my hard drive?
Please be patient with me. Thanks
