problems with MSCONFIG in XP

I just upgraded to XP from 98....old Cel400 sys with
128mb ram. Everytime I try to launch MSCONFIG it either
won't respond or the window stays open for couple
seconds...any idea what the problem might be?

Some viruses and spyware do that.
