Problems with foreign language packs

S

Soren

When I reach a page in Japanese (or Korean, etc.) IE 6
prompts me if I want to download Japanese language pack.
If I click on yes, it asks me to insert my SP4 disk, which
I do. Windows then extracts some of the files from the CD-
ROM, but when it can't find all the files it is looking
for, it aborts the attempt.

I can't find a place on the Microsoft website to download
the characters.

Where can I get the missing files?

Microsoft doesn't offer any help because my OS (WIN 2K) is
an OEM install.

TIA
Soren

Hi,

You can install the Global IME from the Japanese language by downloading
and installing the patch given below:

If you have already installed Office XP in your system, then download the
patch:

http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/preview.aspx?AssetID=HA010347361033&C
TT=6&Origin=EC010553071033

or

If you haven't installed offie XP, then download the patch given below:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/recommended/ime/install.asp

You can follow the steps to add language groups in Windows 2000.

1. From Start menu, select Settings then Control Panel.
2. Start Regional Options.
3. In the Language settings for the system list box, check the check boxes
of desired language groups and click OK.
4. Additonal files will be copied to your machine. You may need to provide
the Windows 2000 CD or the network share name.
5. After reboot, support for new languages will become available.

For additional information access the URL given below:

Hope this helps.
