Problems with Easy CD Creator 5?

I just finished reinstalling XP Home and all other software on my PC. I
have Easy CD Creator 5, but have not updated to the newer version 6.

Is anyone having trouble with version 5--I realize that I have to download
an update from the Web, but I was wondering if the older verions is causing
anyone problems?

I am also running a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card with Creative software
loaded with updates from Creative Web site. XP has all updates loaded
including the CD Burner update from the Windows Update site

I had a lot of trouble with version 5, until I updated to about 5.3 or so.
Worse, after upgrading from 98 to XP, I discovered that I should have
uninstalled Easy CD Creator before I upgraded. Uninstalling afterwards,
then re-installing was a pain. However, more recently Roxio has offerred an
uninstaller that supposedly will clear all traces of version 5 or 6. They
call it roxiozap.exe.

My advice is to uninstall Easy CD, trying the roxiozap rountine. Then,
download (but not install) the latest patches for version 5. Then install
version 5 from CD, but do not reboot. Then install the patches. Now reboot
and hope.

By the way, if you get version 6, it will uninstall version 5 (no real loss,
that). But, you will still need to download patches for version 6. The
latest is 6.2.0.110. Further, you must install the "engine" before the
other updates of the same level of patch. That is very important.

I am happy with version 6 (plus patches). It writes all types of CDs,
copies CDs, and even writes DVDs (with a DVD-writer of course).

If you enjoy random restarts and your computer not
shutting down, keeps restarting-then enjoy version 5.

version 5 with the updates from Roxia is not worth the
headaches with all the problems it will give you. Version
5 was not built to support XP, and the updates for XP are
trouble.

I've had to reload and clean install XP numerous times,
until I find out the problem, its called "EASY CD CREATOR
VER 5." Since removal of the program for good, I haven't
had to do reinstalls of XP.

Go with Nero or the latest Roxio version 6 that supports
XP.

I just did a fresh install of XP pro after about a year of use. I had ECDC 5
Pl on it with all current upgrades, prior to the reinstall working great.
Since the reinstall it seems to install fine but won't burn a CD, it also
won't upgrade with anything from their site. I've tried every method
suggested on their board, but can't make contact with anyone there for help.
I've now installed Nero 5.5 which I bought a while back which I didn't
install as ECDC was working fine. I don't think I'll be going back to Roxio
for anything in the future and beleive that GoBack caused my other problems
as well..
