Access Problems with Access 2007 and IME causing random access errors

A while back my IT Dept installed the IME for Japanese fonts on my system. Recently, I am experiencing random access errors against text field entries in Access 2003 and more recently 2007 (upgrade didn't help)--ie the text is converting to Japanese (randomly)!

This is a documented problem with Access and IME. My IT Dept and I have tried everything including disabling IME at the control and field property level, removing Japanese from the Language panel, and checking the registry.

Now my IT folks are getting ready to wipe my drive and I have to start all over!

Anybody have a magic bullet out there!
