Problems When Windows XP Tries to Load the Agp440.sys Service

Help requested....

When I boot XP Pro, the splash screen appears then the
computer reboots. I tried safe-mode, and the last
driver that attempts to load is the asp440.sys.

I checked the Knowledgebase and article 324764
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;324764) explains that you should use the recovery
console to disable the service.

Easy enough. I did, however when I drop in to the
recovery console, it can't see my C: drive files or OS.
I'm running 2 160GB SATA drives in a RAID-0 config.
When booting from the XP CDROM, I must use the floppy
disk to load the proper SATA controller drivers.

Everything seems fine except that Recovery Console
doesn't see my Windows load (or anything on C: for that
matter). I get an error about not being able to load
the directory structure or something.

Suggestions from here? I've considered booting from
another drive, loading XP on it, loading the SATA
drivers, then being able to see the other drives - can I
THEN disable the service if I'm booting in to another
Windows load? I'm not sure where in XP that is stored.

Other suggestions? That was really my only one above.
I'm stuck from here.

Thanks for ANY help or suggestions that might help me out
of this mess!!!

The agp440.sys is probably a red herring. It it the driver for AGP
video access, and just happens to have been the last driver loaded
before the system started to initialise. If you are booting into Safe
Mode the video drivers as a whole will be bypassed. It is much more
likely to be something to do with your SATA - Raid configuration. I'm
no expert on that, but I think those who are will need to be told how
you did the installation in the first place - when were SATA drivers
installed, when did you set up the Raid? I suggest asking in the more
specialist groups - Microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware and
..setup_deployment
