Problems using Compaq QuickRestore discs

A

Alan

After problems with keyboard/mouse scrolling which
jammed, I was sent QuickRestore discs to clear the hard-
drive and start from scratch. This cleared the scrolling
problems, but only re-installed Windows XP and Internet
Explorer. I was told that it would re-install Word,
Works, and the standard packages that were on the machine
when I got it. Can anyone help me to get my PC back to a
useful set-up, so that I can work on essays due soon!

Alan,

You need to speak to Compaq/HP again.
If you PC was shipped with preinstalled software from them such as
Word/Works, then they should have either supplied you with the CDs or a
method of putting them back (such as the restore CDs they sent you.)
Speak to the support staff again and explain that your PC came with
additional preinstalled software and you need to restore that too, now you
have cleared the hard disk using their supplied restore CDs.
