reformat with no discs

hi, i hope someone can help. i want to clear all the data from my computer,
but don't know how to do it. i didn't get any discs with the pc and someone
told me i should have got a floppy disc with it. windows xp was already
installed and partitioned off, and i was told more recently that i was
supposed to make my own discs off the computer. i looked at the help and
support index and found system restore but it says it saves all your data and
i want to wipe mine. is it possible to reformat without discs, and if so how
do i do it.

If you brought this computer from a reputable seller then.
Somewhere in your all programs list you shoud have access to be able to
reformat (in case of an HP computer it's called hp system tools).Or
Read the manual that should have come with it.

Navigate from: Start > All Programs > HP Tools > HP PC System Recovery. Be
sure to save anything you might want to keep before you run the recovery prog.

hi, just wanted to say thanks to both of you for replying. i did a system
recovery a few days ago (mucked it up first time, did a non-destructive
recovery!), and now have a nice, empty pc!
thanks again, Sharon
