I am having an issue with playing MPEG files on my
computer, whick is a Compaq Presario 5330US. I recently
had a hard drive crash, and I got up and going by
installing a new hard drive, formatting it using the
software that came with the drive, and then installing
Windows XP Professional as the operating system. I also
installed Service Pack 2, and I upgraded from Windows
Media Player 9 to 10. Everything worked fine until I went
to use a new video capture device (ADS Instant DVD) that
connects through a USB connection. When I hooked up the
camera and hit preview in the capture software (CapWiz)
that came with the device, I heard the audio but got no
video. I then tried to play an mpeg file that I received
from a friend, and it did the same thing, audio but no
video (playing through Windows Media Player 10). The
interesting thing is that I can play the same MPEG file on
the same computer using Quicktime, and it works. I also
can't get DVD's to play using WinDVD (no video,
intrmittent audio). I've spent way too long trying to
figure this out with high frustration and low success.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
