I've searched but haven't found a fix so far.
Problem: Media Player 10 won't play DVD's.
Inserting DVD triggers a prompt to play.
Media Player shows chapter and titles but won’t play.
No error messages.
Played OK prior to fresh install of XP MCE on new 500GB drive.
I used the MS video decoder checkup utility to set the NVIDIA decoder as
"Preferred". The second decoder (Sonic Symphony) is flagged as not
compatible. I'm not sure how to remove this since I don't see it listed in
the "add/remove programs" tool.
System Info:
XP version 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236 : SP3)
WMP version 10.00.00.3802
Updated video driver via Microsoft Update link.
MS Decoder Checker shows:
NVIDIA video decoder, nvviddec.ax, vs. 4.0.44.0. MP10 compatible (green
checkmark), MCE compatible (green checkmark), Preferred decoder (green
checkmark).
Sonic MPEG video decoder (Symphony), sonicmpegvideos.dll, vs. 5.0.0.1. MP10
compatible (red x). This decoder is not compatible with the synchronization
feature of WMP10.
Thank you for your time.
