Media Files Will Not Play

Recently, i had to reinstall my XP OS due to a virus. Since the re-install
none of my media files will play in Windows Media Player (regardless of
Player release #). All codecs are installed, no content or privacy blockers
have been setup, everything I know to do i have done.
MPEG, MWV, AVI - ALL of them, start to play and then after 3 seconds the
Player screen goes to black and ONLY AUDIO is heard - NO VIDEO can be seen.
Currently I have Win Media Player 11, but the same problem occurred with 9
and 10.
I am about at my wits end-changing log in names and accounts only seems to
work the first time you watch a video-then each subsequent play, the exact
same pattern occurs-audio only, no video.
I have heard of this happoening, but have been unable to find a solution.
If you have a tip please help.
Thank you.

Try opening event viewer, browse thru for time you tried to play media, see
what warnings/errors are causing this. Also, you might download and run WM
test utility:WMDiag
