We have users that have issues logging in to their desktops after being
logged out. When logging on the user sees their desktop, but the icons and
taskbar are not displayed. They have to CTRL+ALT+DEL and logoff and then try
to login again, which sometimes repeats the problem creating a loop until the
desktop finally appears. This is random, but affects some users more than
others. We have a 2003 Server AD domain that has been in place for over a
year and this problem began around the middle of August 2006. The systems do
not always show anything in the Event Viewer, but two showed an error that
when looked up pointed to the system going into standby. After ensuring that
the system was set to not go into standby through the Power Settings in the
Control Panel the users still experienced the problem.
