Problems installating IE 6.0

A couple of days ago I started having problems with my IE
6.0 on XP that are described in Microsoft's Knowledge Base
Article 281679 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;281679). After following the installation
of .dll instructions my problem wasn't solved, so I
proceeded to do the next suggestion... reinstall IE 6.0.

Now I'm getting Software Installation error because
the "software you are installing has not passed Windows
logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP"
and then the installation process proceeds to cancel
itself. How can this be when I'm downloading IE 6.0 from
Microsoft's own web site? And how do I get past this
problem so I can see if reinstalling IE 6.0 will fix my
problem?

I work from home and almost everything I do is web
based... this is extrememly frustrating and causing a huge
lose in productivity. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
