Hello
I have XP Home on my Dell. Lately I can't log into Paypal or any site that seems to use SSL, I just get the cannot display page dns error. Has anyone seen this or know a fix. Please help. Thanks!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I also cannot log on to
any secure websites. I have tried the fixes offered on
the knowledge base sties (meant for earlier versions of
Windows) but nothing worked.
The only thing I can think of is that the fixes offered
suggest checking boxes to allow you to use certain
protocols, but some of those protocols are not even on the
list for me to check. I wonder if I can download them
somewhere. Anyone know?

Are you using W2K or XP
Also check the cipher strength of your browser

I have the same problem. I cannot access any secure sites. I have tried practically everything except when I try to reinstall I get some XP logo issue. I think it is something going on with certificates and authentication but Obviously since I can not go secure IE doesn't load properly from MS.

I have the same problem but only with PayPal. I am running W98SE P2.
I have tried both IE5.5SP2 and IE6. I can access all of the secure
sites I have tried except PayPal. I am able to open the welcome page
but I get "page cannot be opened or dsn error" after that. Any
suggestions?

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS
