Can not access secure websites like Paypal

Hi... I hope someone can help me. I just got this
computer up and running and connected to the internet via
DSL using IE 6.0. I have not been able to access Paypal.
I can access their home page but when I try to log in it
gives me the site unavailable page. I have followed the
instructions on that page and downloaded MS IE 6 service
pack 1. Nothing has worked. What am I doing wrong? Is
there a setting I need to change or some security patch I
need to download? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!
